At Aura Gas Services we endeavour to make things very easy. To ensure that your boiler replacement goes smoothly we strongly recommend that you read these notes so that our quotation is accurate.

Existing Systems

If you have a combination boiler you will only have the boiler fitted and no airing cupboard with a hot water tank (cylinder) in it.

Older systems work with no hot water controls. The valves below would be used if your system is up to date. Working in conjunction with a cylinder thermostat.

Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRV’s) help to control the temperature of individual rooms. Part L of the building regulations requires that you have them fitted to all radiators now apart from where the Room Thermostat is fitted.

Boiler Flue

With new condensing boilers you need to be careful positioning the appliance as when in use they create a fog (called plume) that can be a nuisance for yourselves and your neighbours. In some instances you will be unable to put a boiler back in the original position because of this.

These are the most common flue types;

Balanced

Fanned
Vertical

You also have to consider which direction the flue goes off from the boiler

Luckily the new Worcester Bosch range of boilers has some of the most adaptable flue systems available.

Here the standard flue can be turned to 45 degrees to help reduce the distance to a boundary and cause less of a nuisance if required.

Plume Kit

If the flue comes out near a window or low down a “Plume management kit” is available at an extra cost

Condense (overflow) Pipe

All boilers that we install have an efficiency rating of Sedbuk A. They are the most efficient on the market. These boilers require a drain pipe being installed to a drain point.

Some examples of where the pipe can terminate are

• Toilet Soil Stack Pipe
• Gutter or gutter down pipe
• Sink/Basin waste pipe
• Drain
• Washing machine or Dishwasher waste pipes
• Outside soakaway
